Understanding the Peace of God
The Peace of God is a state of tranquility in the absence or presence of chaos and difficulties. This type of peace is available to every believer after the moment of salvation. It is a knowledge and assurance of God working on your behalf. "We know that God is always at work for the good of everyone who loves him (Romans 8:28 CEV)." This understanding anchors the heart in the peace of God amidst life's turbulent storms. Many need this type of peace, especially in today's chaotic world. However, accessing it will require willingness and intentionality on our part. Below are two practical tips to help you access and maintain the peace of God in your life.
Tip 1: Establish a Consistent Prayer Routine
Prayer is the primary means of communication between us and God. Establishing a consistent line of communication is the first step to accessing the peace of God. Developing a prayer routine (of talking to God) begins by setting aside specific times each day to engage in prayer.
During this prayer time, God instructs us to entrust our worries to him by inviting him into the situation. "Be careful for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God (Philippians 4:6 KJV)." As we surrender our concerns, we position ourselves to access the peace of God. So, go ahead. Tell God all about it!
Tip 2: Express Gratitude
Once we have made our requests known to God in prayer, we are instructed to give thanks (Philippians 4:6-7). Combining our prayers with thanksgiving (an expression of gratitude) is an act of faith because we are demonstrating our confidence in God.
In conclusion, accessing the Peace of God is attainable through deliberate actions such as establishing a consistent prayer routine and giving God thanks. As you implement these tips, you will find that the peace of God can be your constant companion.
